How To Create Motivation For Weight Loss
Need more motivation for weight loss?
Here’s how to create it...

While most people search for information on how to lose weight, no amount knowledge will help you lose weight unless you have the motivation needed to act on it. In fact...
Motivation is the key to successful weight loss.
So how do you create motivation for weight loss? And, even more importantly, how do you maintain that motivation?
What Is Motivation
Motivation is the internal drive that gives us the desire to reach a goal and determination to succeed.
The key word here is "internal". While "external" motivators like upcoming events or inspirational talks may motivate us for for awhile, the motivation they create never lasts. Once the class reunion or wedding is over or a few weeks after the speaker has flown home we lose our motivation – and the desirable behaviors that accompanied it.
To achieve lasting success, motivation for weight loss has to come from within ourselves. It has to be internal.
And you create internal motivation by changing the way you think!
Change Your Thinking, Change Your Weight
Dale Carnegie
author of the classic best seller "How To Make Friends and Influence People" was once asked to share the most important lesson he ever learned. “The biggest lesson I have ever learned” he replied, "is the stupendous importance of what we think. If I knew what you think I would know what you are for your thoughts make you what you are." So if you find yourself lacking motivation for weight loss you need to change the way you think about your body and about the foods that you eat. And how do you do that? By reprogramming your subconscious mind!
Your Subconscious Mind And Weight Loss
In addition to your conscious mind - that part of your mind that creates thoughts and perceives the things that you are consciously aware of - you also have a "subconscious" mind.
Your
subconscious mind
controls the things that your body does “subconsciously” or automatically without thinking about them like regulating your heart rate and breathing.
It also creates your “automatic” behavioral patterns. And it is these behavioral patterns that determine whether you succeed or fail at achieving your goals.
If you currently lack the motivation for weight loss it is because your subconscious mind has been working against you.
So, although you may consciously want to end emotional eating or eat more vegetables instead of pasta, your subconscious mind keeps prompting you to grab a doughnut whenever you feel upset and to go for the pasta instead of the veges.
Most people try to overcome their subconscious drives with willpower and discipline. But this usually only works for a short time. In the end their underlying subconscious drives get the better of them!
Fortunately, there is a way to turn this around...
How Your Subconscious Mind Works
Your subconscious mind works very much like a computer.
The way a computer processes information depends on how it has been programmed. If you want to change the way your computer processes data, you have to change the program that it runs on.
To change unwanted behavioral patterns you need to do the same thing with your subconscious mind.
That is, instead, of trying to forcefully overcome your subconscious drives through will power, you need to reprogram your subconscious mind to replace your unwanted behavioral patterns with more desirable ones.
When you reprogram your subconscious mind you can lose your food cravings, feelings of deprivation, tendency to engage in emotional eating and other behavioral patterns that have previously sabotaged your weight loss efforts, and replace them with behaviors that will help you lose weight.
By reprogramming your subconscious mind you create the internal motivation for weight loss that will result in effortless – and lasting - success!
How To Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind
You subconscious mind is programed by your life experiences, by what other people say to you (assuming you believe them) and by what you say to yourself. While you may not be able to completely control your life experiences or other people behavior, you can take charge of your subconscious mind and change the programming that these things have created. There are two very effective methods for doing this – hypnosis and self talk. For more on each of these methods click on the links below.
